Activities at Waverley Nursery

Our Nursery children enjoy a wealth of activities indoors and outdoors throughout the year. These include both timetabled and extra-curricular activities. (Please note that some of our extra-curricular activities are subject to an additional charge.)

Activities we take part in a typical week

  • Messy play
  • Story telling sessions
  • Literacy (Using the Read Write Inc system)
  • Numeracy
  • Daily woodland walks
  • Light boxes 
  • Learning about the human body
  • Singing, rhymes and poetry
  • Dressing Up
  • Library and story-telling sessions
  • Outdoor play 

Nursery 3 - Extra Curricular Activities

In our Nursery 3 class, children can enjoy:

  • Ballet - on Mondays. Please note that the exact day ballet takes place on is subject to change each academic year due to timetabling. There is an additional charge for ballet. Booking required.
  • 'Kickers' Football and ball skills. On Wednesdays. Please note that the exact day ballet takes place on is subject to change each academic year due to timetabling. There is no additional charge. No booking required.
  • Library Sessions - several days a week. Our Nursery 3 children visit our beautiful school library to choose a library book to take home and also have story telling sessions. No booking required.

Foundation - Extra Curricular Activities

 In our Foundation class, children can enjoy:

  • Ballet - on Mondays. Please note that the exact day ballet takes place on is subject to change each academic year due to timetabling. There is an additional charge for ballet. 
  • French.
  • 'Kickers' Football and ball skills. On Wednesdays. Please note that the exact day ballet takes place on is subject to change each academic year due to timetabling. There is no additional charge.
  • Library Sessions - several days a week. Our Nursery 3 children visit our beautiful school library to choose a library book to take home and also have story telling sessions.
  • Speech and Drama. Taught by our specialist Speech and Drama teacher Mrs Adams, children develop their skills in mime, pronunciation, poetry, communication and acting a well as boosting their self-confidence and self-awareness.
  • Woodland School. Led by our trained Forest School teachers, children explore their outdoor environment using our 'Acorn Lodge' outdoor classroom as a base. Woodland School is used as an extension for developing children's academic skills such as counting, writing and phonics but also learn about using tools, fire safety, how to look after our environment and enjoying nature. There is no extra charge.
